Audio Listening with Motivational Interviewing Podcasts
I often have MI Academy training participants ask, “How does MI apply to working with clients who struggle with [something specific]?”
Motivational Interviewing is so widely applicable across helping professions, and we work with myriad clients! From those who provide therapy or case management to those who help clients with medical conditions or even financial advising, MI is everywhere! If you work with folks who are ambivalent about change and they want to get unstuck, MI can be applicable!
“Motivational Interviewing is a particular way of talking with people about change and growth to strengthen their own motivation and commitment.” -Miller & Rollnick, 2023
Over the past couple of years, the number of podcasts related to Motivational Interviewing has been growing! I compiled a free motivational interviewing podcast resource page for you with all of the MI podcasts (that I know of!) in one place.
There are podcasts on special topics, like MI with homeless populations, MI in education, MI related to working neurodivergent clients, MI for diabetes care, MI across cultures and so much more… Take your pick!
I imagine you will find a free motivational interviewing podcast that fits your niche!
I also love listening to MI podcasts to strengthen my own understanding of Motivational Interviewing. 🙂
Motivational Interviewing Tip of the Week:
Many liken the process of learning Motivational Interviewing to learning a new language. It’s not a ‘one and done’ class that helps you obtain fluency. One of my favorite ways to keep MI practice alive and growing in me is listening to free motivational interviewing podcasts! You can check out the podcast listings here (https://www.micenterforchange.com/Free-audio-resources) , or sign up for our free MI learning library for even more free motivational interviewing resources. https://www.micenterforchange.com/free-resources
